Memories page 1

My friend Bill has done a great job on this website.  I recently read all the comments posted here and I was deeply touched and blessed to be reminded that we weren’t wasting our time.  It is wonderful to know that lives are truly being changed by the magnificent truths of the word of God.  Thank you for all your kind words.  I truly love and appreciate you.  May the blessings of God overtake you today!

Great Web page you have! I came back to the Lord in 1982 after many years of playing in the night club scene, Mylon’s music was among the first I discovered to be more than just traditional. I watched a Christian TV program with several Christian musicians, including Mylon, being interviewed about their music. I was amazed when Mylon was given the opportunity to share how he only wanted to talk about Jesus and by the way the only one with his Bible in hand.

I was impressed with the sincerity of his testimony and knew I wanted to pattern my ministry with the same honesty and conviction that Mylon demonstrated toward the Lord. He paved the way for Christian musicians to use their music as a platform to preach the message of Christ. I later had the priviledge of hosting he and Christi in our town of Roanoke, Va. where Mylon ministered the word and song. Since that time we have become friends and he continues to mentor me in my ministry today.Thank you for creating this web site as a tribute to a great man of God and thanks be to God for creating the minister Mylon Lefevre!

I saw them (Mylon and Broken Heart) live in concert twice. I got to meet him both times. My Mother: Judy Johnson knows Mylon, she was raised up knowing him and the LeFevres. They called Ola Mae LeFevre, Mylons Mother there Ma because on the road she raised them. Mother & her three sisters: Margaret, Mary & Anna from the time they were little girls till I was about 12 years of age were the “Johnson Sisters Quartet”, they released around 10 albums under “Sing Records” and was members of, sang, tour and recorded albums with “The Gospel Singing Caravan” on the same label threw out the 50’s and 60’s and were very popular in Southern Gospel.

The Caravan also had a TV show that came on every Sunday, I can remember seeing them on the tube, were they had a solo spot. They also appeared every week on “The Earnest Tubb Show” were they also had a solo spot. So I was around the music so much, in and out of studios, them on the road all the time. One day in 1989 when they were doing the “Face The Music Tour” she noticed in the paper that he was coming. She contacted him and he reserved tickets to the show. We went to that show and it was really good. I got to meet him after the show, he is a really cool guy. I saw him the following year on the “Big World Tour” 1990 and met him again.  If you have contact with him, let him read this and he will remember “The Johnson Sisters”.

Hello. My brother, Scott Allen, was with Mylon from the beginning of Broken Heart. I have seen the band probably well over 100 times – they still rock.  Scott and his family live in Texas, work for Ken Copeland Ministries, and produced Mylon’s new album. Mylon has been a friend of our family for many years and is as real and sensitive as he appears. Keep up the good work.

WOW! What a trip back in time this website has brought me through!  I have also attended quite a few Mylon concerts and have been blessed at each one.

I was 13 years old when I purchased my first Mylon record – More Like Jesus was my very favorite song from that one.  It was the first time in my life that I opened up to Jesus and worshipped Him with my whole heart – while I listened to that song performed in concert at the Palace Theater in Jamestown,NY. From that time on , I was huge fan of Mylon’s.  He ministered to me like no other musician had ever or since ever done.

I distinctly remember when I was about 15 years old, Mylon and Broken Heart were going to perform in Warren,PA, not too far from where I lived.  My parents said that I could attend the concert if I could get the tickets myself.  I had found out about the concert too late to really earn the money for the tickets myself, but a local Christian radio station was giving tickets away if you were the third (or whatever ) caller.  I got down on my knees, by my bed, and prayed to God that I would win those tickets.  I had this real peace about it, and as soon as my call came through,  they pronounced me the winner!  That concert was very special to me, because I was blessed to meet Mylon.  It truly was a gift from God.  Although I happen to love each and every one of his albums, Sheep In Wolves Clothing will always remain my favorite.  That album was very popular when I started youth group at my church.  It not only touches my heart, but also brings back some wonderful memories.  I love Mylon and thank you for allowing me to share some memories I will always cherish. God Bless!

Mylon came to Winston-Salem, NC some years ago to do a concert. I was a DJ at a local Christian radio station that co-sponsored the event.  Another DJ at our station was scheduled to be in the hospital at that same time. She was very disappointed to miss the concert because Mylon LeFevre was one of her favorite Christian artists.  She had never met him or been to one of his concerts, and she was looking forward to this opportunity.  I decided to notify Mylon and suggest that he might call or send a message to her hospital room.  He did much more than that.  After the concert, he visited her in the hospital.  She was thrilled!

Hi,

I just stumbled onto your website and what memories it brought back.  I met Mylon in 1981 at Mt. Paran Church of God.  A friend of mine bugged me and bugged me to go check out this great rock band.  “A rock band at a church?” I wondered.  Little did I know what an influence this particular “rock band”
would be.  At the time, the band hadn’t taken the name Broken Heart, but were known as Airborn.  I remember the opening song….”Gonna be there gonna meet Him in the air. Dontcha wanna be there when we meet Him in the air, we’ll be airborn”.  The lights, sirens and parachutes on the wall were anything but church in my mind.  Here I saw this long haired guy up on stage praising God through a style of music that I always thought was reserved for us “headbanger” types who had little if any time for God.  Yet the words this guy spoke touched my heart.  He spoke of the freedom and love that Christ had for everyone.  He spoke of how God had delivered him from a life of drugs, sexual promiscuity and even death.  I was moved….I was just 16 years old and headed down that same destructive path.

Later on, I met Mylon as well as Dean and Kim.  In fact, the following Monday night I found myself right there again….listening to some great music and and even greater message.  I had been raised in a Pentecostal church.  My grandfather and uncles were preachers.  I knew the word and could even debate a lot of adults on interpretation, but this was different.  I found Mylon and the rest of the band speaking my language.  I was so excited, but wasn’t sure why.  That second Monday I was there, I committed my life to Christ.  It hasn’t always been easy and yes I’ve stumbled more than once, but He’s always been there to catch me.  I’ve found that having Christ in your life isn’t about giving up your freedom….its about gaining freedom.   Mylon quoted a scripture that night in 1981 that has stuck with me since….He who the Father sets free is free indeed!

I wound up helping out a bit here and there with the band.  I went with them to help set up equipment at Georgia Tech one day…..and man did that band jam!  All these college kids rocking to Jesus music and hearing His message!   How sweet was that!

Mylon was as down to earth as anyone can be.  Nothing arrogant or aloof about him.  Just a regular guy who was doing as God had instructed him to do.  Thank you Jesus for your message as well as the messenger you sent my way!

I’m now 38 years old, married, two kids….my oldest the same age I was when I first heard Mylon.  We all live in Ohio now and I often think so fondly of those days at Mt Paran Church of God.  I just cruised by your website trying to locate some old albums of Mylon and Broken Heart.  What a blessing your site was to me this night.  Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you abundantly!

In Christ,
Dale Cullen

I was 16 and took a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. with our youth group.  I loved God but never had that “experience” of complete transformation to godliness that I desired. I had long hair…bushy…..wore a guess jean jacket with medals on it ( Russ Taffs “medals” album came out at that time and I loved putting medals on my jacket to imitate) When I saw Mylon in concert I just stood in aw!  Great music…..Great show….how can a Christian Rock-out like this!  Well, then…in the middle of the show Mylon gave his testimony…..wow……he was talking directly to me……God gave him something I wanted ….I cried…..ran to the front and gave my heart to Christ……If Mylon can do it through all he had been through than so can I!!!!

I went to school…walked proudly through the halls…..If DC Talks “Jesus Freak” song had been produced at that time….I would had played it as loud as I could…..In the mean time I had “Crack the Sky” to play in my head. I showed everyone pictures I took….passed out copies of his tapes….. spread the word to my so called friends that you can have fun being a Christian and Rock to Christ!!!!  Ever since then I have had a respect for Mylon and have almost idolized him….there were no bigger fans on earth (as so I thought) than my sister and me.  At that time I was big into audio engineering and travel with a sound company setting up for concerts and lighting…..I remember Mylon put out the word he was looking for a spot light operator.

I talked to Spivey? his road manager.  I didn’t care if I had to pay them…….I wanted to do this!  He told me there were chores to do on the bus like take out the trash and stuff…..I thought…YEA! when do I start.
Well I don’t think they were much interested in a 17 yr. old……Little do they know I would have been the best spot light operator in the world..(See how my dreams were shattered?)  Just kidding of course.
Well…..I have a lot more stories…..I saw them in many other places….I’ll never forget they were on the front cover of Peavey Magazine (an audio magazine) They had just purchased the HDH-1 system which in my opinion was the best sound system out at that time.  I couldn’t believe it!! a Christian Rock group on the front cover of a secular music magazine!!  I showed everyone!
well….enough for now.

love in christ,

I can’t believe this website!  I feel like I stepped into a time machine.  What memories it brings back.

I’ve seen Mylon and Brokenheart in concert a half-dozen times here in Pennsylvania.  Once in Pittsburgh, once in Tyrone, once in Clearfield and three times at the Creation festivals in Shirleysburg.  No single memory of those concerts stands out.  They were all so powerful and spirit-filled.  Actually, there is one memory that does standout.  They were at the Tyrone High School during the Crack the Sky tour.  They sang Crack the Sky as their last song and during the chorus we’d all sing with them and raise our hands.  Thinking about it now after all this time still gives me chills.  I guess you had to be there to appreciate it.

I can still hear it……”Come on and crack the sky for me, come on and crack the sky and taaaake meeeee hooooome, taaaaake meeee hoooooome…………”

I saw Mylon and Broken Heart in their final show at Greenville Memorial Auditorium, Greenville, SC. He broke his guitar pick (I own that pick) plus he gave me one that wasn’t broken. I then helped unload and set-up the sound system when He was doing Mylon and Friends Tour in Spartanburg,SC. By the way AWESOME web page.

Hello,

Thanks for making a great web site. It brings back a lot of great memories. I saw Mylon and broken heart at the Fort Worth convention center in Fort Worth, Texas. It was either 1986 or 1987. What stood out from the concert was when the band played The Warrior. I had been too many Christian rock concerts before, but that was the first time I had really felt the Holy Spirit move at a show, it was awesome, the song was so powerful and it seemed like everyone had tears in their eyes while they were praising Jesus singing along with the band. Wow, what a great memory. Also, Crack The Sky is my favorite cd. God used it to speak to me in so many areas of my life. I’m very thankful that Mylon and Broken heart answered God’s call on their lives to minister in music.

I want you to know how blessed I was to find your Web Page today on Mylon LeFevre. Wow what memories I have that were revived in me today!

My name is Daryl Lynn and I live in Pittsburgh PA with my husband..Back in the early to Mid 80’s, I had the pleasure to see Mylon and Broken Heart on several occasions..One evening, at the Syria Mosque,my fellow Christian band members & I were truly mesmerized by Mylon and Broken Heart’s concert and that’s not all! The night was “magical” and God’s power was working magic…One of our members was not “completely committed”, until that evening!!…God used Mylon to win another heart for him!..It was thrilling for all of us to share Lance’s “leap of faith”. I have been searching recently for info on Mylon and looking for CD formats for the Sheep in Wolves Clothing, Crack the Sky and The Greatest Hits…When I searched today, I found so much and your wonderful Website!!Thank you so much for all your efforts to present so beautifully a GREAT TRIBUTE to Mylon!

I first saw Mylon back in 1981 when Broke Heart performed at McEachern High School in Powder Springs,GA. I was instantly hooked. I started going to Mt. Paron Church to see them on Monday nights when they were in town. They would perform for an hour or so and then have sharing and Testimony. I’ve also seen them at AtlantaFest and Icthus. They have always been one of my favorite Christian Bands. Not long ago I bought a new Turn table and pulled out my “Live Forever” Album and introduced my little girl to them. She is only 2 years old, but she was dancing up a storm. I love the site. Keep up the good work.

Hello,

Just found your site a few days ago and it’s great!  Through the 80’s and 90’s Mylon was in my CD player absolutely more than anyone else – secular or Christian.  We saw them probably a dozen times between 85 and 92.  In 1996 I invited him to preach in my church and I was blessed to spend the day with  Mylon and Scott Allen.  I don’t know if I’ve ever been around someone who speaks God’s Word in conversations as much as Mylon.  I’ve been fortunate to have a couple of opportunities to get together with him over dinner when he comes to our town.  He always says, “Pastor, you’re still about the only Baptist that ever let me talk to their congregation – you’ve got a lot of guts!”   We had a great day that day.  I still miss the days and music of Broken Heart.  That’s why I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your web site.  I’ve got lots of pictures.  Maybe I’ll get time to send some of them to you later.  Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Man I just had to type ya off a quick letter here. That’s an awesome website! Thanks ‘so much’ for the time an dedication put into bringing me an the world a look into good ole’ Mylon. for ‘givin’ it away’. I’m 43, married 23 beautiful years with one 14 yr old girl. I remember here a few years back I won a really neat Broken Heart pin from a guy on ebay. He was a bus driver during one of the tours. i know i have the letter somewhere. I also have an original version of Mylon’s newsletter with him on the front sportin’ all that hair. 77’s, Keaggy, Larry Norman, Rez Band, Sweet Comfort Band….but then there’s my Mylon. He is my favorite. Let me throw in that I, since receiving Jesus, I was a Ken Copeland ‘fan’. Brother Hagin as well. got born again in 81. and when Mylon an KC hooked up I was floored man. Too cool. I just got Crank It Up and Big World on cd and am sitting here rockin and ‘bumped’ into your site. sweet! a huge thank you!!! going to listen to the Huntley Street interview if i can turn ‘New Attitude’ off lol. ps..how bout that new cd 🙂

Huge influence on me as a songwriter and singer in Atlanta in the early 1970’s.  Really helped me see that the love of Jesus was attainable, that we were worthy and that we didn’t have to be perfect – just forgiven.
I’ve gone on to write Gospel songs and sing in an incredible choir in Nashville – but – Mylon – and Jesus – was always on my mind.

God bless.
J.R.

Hello. My name is Tom Curren and I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It must have been at least 15 years ago or more when I saw Mylon and Broken Heart touring with White Heart (remember them?). I had won 2 tickets from the local radio show for naming a portion of the “mystery song” that they played on the radio. I don’t remember the song but it was from the “Crack The Sky” album. Anyway, after the show I got most of the “Broken Heart” band to sign my ‘Varnet’ shirt (now I’m dating myself with that one huh!). I remember Kenny Bentley and Ben Hewitt and the guitarist and keyboard players being very nice and happy to sign autographs (now if I could only find that shirt!). I got to see them again at a local church some years later (1990 I think) and was just always impressed by how they carried themselves on and off stage. I remember being saddened when I heard that the band was going to be no more and they put out that collection of songs on the CD Forever and then that was it. I still have most of their music on cassette including their first live album which is always great to listen to. I’d have to say that the “Crack The Sky” album was the greatest because it best represents their musical talents and is the highlight of their career. I’d like to see them do some-sort of a reunion type tour…..there are definitely NOT enough Christian bands around anymore…..

Hello, I am enjoying your sight a great deal. Some of my favorite memories of being a teenager are attending Mylon concerts. I’ve seen Mylon in Akron, Pittsburgh, the Creation Festival, and also the Fishnet Festival in VA.  Who can forget the full length white duster and flying “V” guitar.  When that thing came out, we knew we were in for some rock and roll, southern style. His powerful vocals “Live Forever”. His lyrics still rock and can bring me to tears!  He, without a doubt, was the one Christian artist that influenced me in my walk with Jesus the most.Thank you Mylon for the memories, the powerful songs that speak to me and build me up even today, and for your tireless work you do for our world in the Savior’s name.

I am so blessed to have found this website. I was rummaging (through the debris in the aftermath that was once my home and personal items following hurricane Jeanne here in Lakeland Florida), and found an old cassette that I had made from some various Mylon and Broken Heart albums going back as far as “Brand New Start” “When Your a Child of the Father”, and as far forward as “More”. This tape was barely legible, but the anointing was still there. I thought I have got to try and find some current versions of this music that would be maybe even on CD’s. That’s when I found your website looking for a music source of those old songs. I was blessed to meet Mylon on a couple of occasions back in the early eighties at the old Lakeland Civic Center with all of thirty people attending. I thought to myself listening to him preach his heart out about living the pure life that moves the heart of God, yes I still remember it.

Yours in the Faith… Jack Williams (the Bear)

What an excellent web site!  I just wanted to tell you that and let you know that my wife and I along with my two older children also have been blessed by the Broken Heart years.  We saw Mylon and group for the first time at Jesus Midwest in 1985 or 6, and saw him again at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Il.  The highlight being the two times he came and performed here in Racine Wisconsin at Memorial Hall and I was privileged to be on the counseling teams both times.  I wondered if you had any information on the other guys in the band, what they are doing these days.  I’d love to know that too, my son has since become a bass player and fondly remembers Kenny playing.  Please email back with any of that information, and again great site to a wonderful ministry.

In Him,
Rob Blascoe

I just searched and found this web site. I am 44 years old. I followed Mylon and the band back in the 80’s as a young married man. Has twenty-plus years passed since then? I have heard bits of what he has done since, both on a Christmas CD I bought years back that had an incredible song on by him (Oh (Holy Night) Night Divine, I believe) and bought Faith, Hope and Love when I saw it.

It was great to read his testimony on the web, which I had heard bits of as we followed you in concerts back then.

Just wanted to thank you, Mylon, for the powerful way you allowed God to use you in the years on the road with Broken Heart. I can see that He has been more than faithful to you and your family to today.
WOW! I never knew the link between you and the Newsboys!

My wife and I of 24 years have never grown up  :-), and love the music of the Newsboys, U2 and others.
Thanks for who you are, God’s richest blessing on you and yours,

Hi again,

“I first saw Mylon & Broken Heart at age 18, in 1983 at the Creation Festival at its former location at Muddy Run park in Lancaster, PA. Despite the water being polluted and our entire group getting sick when we got home, it was a wonderful experience. Besides hearing for the first time this eclectic man & his band from Georgia who loved Jesus, I remember the electricity going out and Amy Grant singing acapella from the stage.  Someone made a cross and carried it down front. It was very moving.

From then on, my college summers were filled with Broken Heart memories.  And winters, too, as they always seemed to come to the Pennsylvania area right before Christmas. My house would turn into Betty Crocker’s kitchen right before the show as my college friends and I would bake dozens of cookies to take to the band.

I am now (yikes) 40, and can say in retrospect how much Broken Heart influenced my life for Christ during those impressionable years.  They gave sacrificially to be on the road away from their families to share God’s love and Jesus’ salvation with those they ministered to through music. I would like to especially give honor to Kenny, Paul, Scott, David, Trent, Ben, Stan, Dean (trying to remember  the names of people who came through the band – forgive me if I missed anyone) for all you did for our generation.  While we may not see a Broken Heart reunion here on earth, you will not be forgotten”.

In Christ,
Laurie,  Pennsylvania

(Note: this gal has seen Mylon and Broken Heart something like 35 times!!!
